A good fitness program could help you prevent back pains. Yoga, and other exercises that promote flexibility, can prevent you from straining a muscle. Also, any exercise that strengthens core muscles will help those that tend to do a lot of heavy lifting ward off back pains.  The following article is excellent, it gives you some great fundamental yoga moves to relieve back pain

Upon awakening one may sit to have coffee or breakfast before sitting to drive to work. When arriving at work the corporate employee will often sit at a desk or in meetings until lunch. Lunch involves more sitting, before sitting at the desk to finish the workday. Then of course there is the commute home and another sit-down meal.

Exhausted from a long day of sitting at the office one may choose to sit on the sofa to watch television to unwind. If we look at it from an anatomical standpoint we realize the hamstring muscles and the illiopsoas muscles are shortened from the many hours of sitting and this causes strain on the lower back.

Superb advice here, well worth the read.  If you’re 10 pounds or more than your advised weight, you need to get on a diet and yoga will help too. Your gravity center is different when you are overweight, especially if that weight is in your abdomen. This interference causes strain on your lower back. Eventually, it could cause severe lower back pain.

To avoid back pain later, always remember to stretch your muscles before and after heavy physical activity. If you need to bend or lift excessively at work, make sure to stretch your muscles and use legs to take the strain, keeping your back straight. Do this to avoid future back pain.  If you are required to lift at work then no doubt yo will have had correct training.  The video below is a reminder to you and also extremely beneficial to all.

Both very active work and also occupations that require minimal movement can be just as  detrimental to your back. Constantly lifting, pushing and maneuvering in odd ways can really damage your back and you should always be careful of your movements. Also, not moving often enough can also cause a lot of back pain if you do not take the proper breaks from just sitting.

Taking a pillow with you on if you have to drive for a living can help to relieve back pain. By placing a soft pillow between the small of your back and the seat of the automobile, you are creating a cushioned support that will help you maintain proper posture when driving those long hours to help to decrease the back pain.

Stop smoking if you can. Among all of its health risks, smoking can reduce the blood supply to the vertebrae that make up your spine. This loss of blood flow results in degeneration of the disks, making them more susceptible to injury and damage. This sort of disk damage is permanent..
