One thing you don’t want to have to do is drag a lot of pots and pans along with you on your camping journey. So the more one dish breakfasts you can make the better. Making toast can be somewhat of a challenge when camping so this dish serves two purposes. You are getting your toast and egg too.
You just need to cut the center of the bread out with a small glass. Then butter both sides of the bread. Add some butter to the skillet and heat it until melted. Then add the bread to the skillet. Break and egg into the hole you created. Flip when you think the bread has toasted nicely on the underside. If you don’t want to flip, then wait until the bread browns on one side, then flip and add the egg.

It may seem like there are a lot of ingredients, but you can prepare these and have them packed properly so you just need to mix them when preparing your camping breakfast.
If you forgot to bring the skillet then don’t rush out to the nearest town to buy one. Just find some paper bags and you are good to go. Now you want to do this with caution so your bag doesn’t go up in flames, but once you have mastered it you and the kids are going to be delighted with the adventure and the outcome. Before you head out on your camping trip to try this method you may want to read the full instructions here so you get it right, and don’t forget to pack the bags!
This chicken and potato dish is a super simple dish to cook over the hot coals of your camp fire:
You will need….
take 4 baking potatoes and peel and dice them
Dice up to boneless chicken breasts
Chop up 2 red bell peppers
Chop up 3 celery stalks and one large white onion
You will need 2 cups of your choice of barbecue sauce
Make four foil packets by the following method, using 1-foot squares of heavy duty aluminum foil: fold square in half and smooth flat. Seal each of the narrow ends by folding over each edge three times to make a 1/4-inch border, smoothing flat after every fold. You should now have a foil packet that is open on one long side. Repeat to form four packets.
In a bowl or resealable plastic bag, combine the potatoes, chicken cubes, red peppers, onion, celery, and barbeque sauce; mix well. Evenly divide the mixture among the foil packets. Roll up the open end of the packets to seal.
Place packets on a grill over the coals of a fire. Cook until the potatoes are tender and the chicken is fully cooked, about 25 minutes, depending on the intensity of the heat.

Pizza on a campfire!
Can you imagine cooking a pizza over a grill? It is certainly possible and yummy too. For the best results you will want to use a dutch oven, which by the way is a great cooking tool to have in your camping gear.
Barbecued Chicken Pizza – Substitute barbecue sauce for tomato sauce.Breakfast Pizza – Use Crescent Rolls, eggs, and hash brown potatoes.
Dessert Pizza – Use Crescent Rolls and bake the crust. Then remove from heat and top with cream cheese and fruits of your choice (orange slices, kiwi slices, and/or strawberry slices, etc.)
