It really doesn’t matter if you are a working Mom, a busy dad or a teenager about to take their exams, the whole World needs time management solutions.  It is true, if you don’t manage your time you will soon become overwhelmed and you will not achieve a thing.  There are a lot of articles been written on this subject, and quite rightly so as it is a massive problem.  The following is a recent article that was authored by a very busy working Mom.

When I took a job that allowed me to work from home, I never imagined it would be difficult. I thought I had the best of both worlds, having a job to bring in income and being able to do it with my pajamas on. When my daughter arrived, I felt even more blessed because I could stay at home with her and still contribute to our family by working. But working from home and being a work from home mom are totally different! To say that you feel pulled in 2 different directions all the time is an understatement. Both your boss and family often have deadlines that need to be met, and neither are that understanding if you miss them. So after 2 years of working from home, I finally feel like I have a handle on things and I have a handful of tips on how you can better manage your time as you work from home.

1. Use A Schedule

Everyone is more productive when they have a schedule, so take a good look at your work deadlines and plan out your weeks. Most likely your work takes precedence over setting up a play date so setting time to take care of your obligations with your employer first. It’s helpful to coordinate your schedule with your boss, so they know the hours that you are available for assignments and phone calls. If you don’t, then you may end up working “on call” all the time and your boss may not have appropriate boundaries. Nobody wants that!

1. Plan your days the evening before.

2. Take full advantage of your mornings.

The morning sets your pace for the entire day and it is also provides you with a block of time that will be completely free of distractions — no phone calls and no emails — it is 100 percent “you” time.

I wake up at 5:30 every morning, seven days a week, in order to stick to my routine. I hit the gym and then after working out I have 7 to 8:30 a.m. mapped out as “me” time. I use this time to write, which is something that I do because I truly love it — it’s almost therapeutic. This is when I write for my company’s blog or for other media outlets, such as Entrepreneur.com.

The combination of physical exercise and mental stimulation from writing allows me to start the day firing on all cylinders.

3. Learn to delegate properly.

You can’t do everything — I know, I didn’t believe it at first either. I thought I could stack task on top of task and eventually get them all done. I was so wrong. If you keep doing that, everything will come crashing down and you will lose precious time getting caught up.
